IPU B.Tech Admission Through CUET (UG): Eligibility, Subjects & College List
Last Updated:
B.Tech admission at GGSIPU (Programme Code 131) is granted on the merit of JEE Main Paper-I (the University does not conduct its own engineering CET). Per Important Instruction #37 of the 2026-27 brochure, vacant B.Tech seats remaining after JEE Main counselling are then filled on the merit of CUET (UG) 2026. CUET-qualified candidates also become eligible for the 10% management quota seats reserved at every unaided affiliated IPU engineering college (Important Instruction #21 + Chapter 12). Eligibility: Class 12 with PCM, minimum 55% aggregate (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD), pass in each subject including English. CUET subject papers required: Physics (322), Mathematics/Applied Mathematics (319), and either Chemistry (306) or Computer Science/Informatics Practices (308). USS tuition Rs. 1,69,400 per annum 2026-27; affiliated colleges Rs. 1,41,750β1,55,700 per 6th SFRC. Top colleges accepting B.Tech via CUET include MAIT, MSIT, BPIT, GTBIT, BVP, ADGITM and Echelon Faridabad. Free admission counselling: 9899991342.
How CUET Works for IPU B.Tech 2026-27
Per the GGSIPU UG Admission Brochure 2026-27 (Section 1.1, "At a Glance"), B.Tech admission at IP University is structured as a two-tier merit list:
First preference: National Level Test — JEE Main Paper-I. The University does not conduct a separate engineering CET; it directly uses JEE Main 2026 NTA merit.
Second pathway:CUET (UG) 2026 # — used to fill vacant seats remaining after JEE Main counselling rounds (Important Instruction #37).
This means a B.Tech aspirant who only has a CUET score (and not JEE Main) is still eligible for IPU admission — through the CUET vacant-seat round and through the management quota route at affiliated colleges.
Eligibility for B.Tech via CUET (Programme Code 131)
Per Chapter 2 (Eligibility Criteria & Admission Criteria) of the brochure:
Pass in Class 12 (10+2) of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM), provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately.
The candidate must additionally have passed English as a subject of study (core / elective / functional) in the qualifying examination.
Marks are not rounded off — 54.99% will not be treated as 55% (Important Instruction #28).
For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD), the minimum is relaxed to 50%.
Blind (including colour blind), deaf or dumb candidates are not eligible for B.Tech (per Chapter 2 footnote).
For B.Tech Biotechnology (Code 130) the same 55% applies but in PCB / PC-Biotech as an alternative; CUET is also the secondary path (Section 1.1 row 16).
CUET (UG) Subject Papers Required for IPU B.Tech
Per Chapter 2, Programme Code 131 (Domain Specific Subjects column), candidates appearing in CUET (UG) for IPU B.Tech should attempt:
Section II — Physics (Code 322)
Section II — Chemistry (Code 306)orComputer Science / Informatics Practices (Code 308) (for CSE/IT/AI/DS major disciplines)
Section II — Mathematics / Applied Mathematics (Code 319)
Section IA English (Code 101) is recommended as the language paper since English is a compulsory eligibility subject.
Per Section 1.2 of the brochure: "during the Academic Session 2026-27, the methodology for conduct of CUET may be as per the notification to be issued by the University in due course of time". Final paper-mapping will be confirmed by GGSIPU on ipu.ac.in before counselling.
B.Tech Specialisations Available Under CUET Counselling
Per Chapter 13 (Programme-wise Seat Intake) of the brochure, IPU offers 33 distinct B.Tech specialisations across USS and affiliated colleges. These are accessible via JEE Main first and via CUET in the vacant-seat round:
Note: Vacant-seat availability via CUET varies by college and year. Most CUET seats appear at Tier-2 / Tier-3 colleges since top USS & MAIT-tier seats fill in the JEE Main rounds.
Management Quota Through CUET β B.Tech
Per Chapter 12 (Management Quota Admissions) of the brochure, every unaided affiliated B.Tech college reserves 10% of its total seats as Management Quota seats. A valid CUET (UG) score is one of the three accepted qualifiers:
Eligibility (Important Instruction #21 + Chapter 12 Note 2): The candidate must have qualified JEE Main / GGSIPU CET 2026 / CUET, plus meet the Class 12 PCM 55% rule.
Application: Each college runs its own management-quota counselling. Apply directly to the college during the 18-day window advertised in 2 newspapers (1 Hindi + 1 English).
Affiliated colleges (MAIT/MSIT/BPIT/GTBIT/BVP etc.): Tuition Rs. 1,41,750 to Rs. 1,55,700 per year per the 6th SFRC Delhi Gazette Notification dated 14.07.2025, plus university charges, exam, innovation, alumni and welfare contributions (~Rs. 25,000-30,000 additional)
Management quota seats at the same colleges typically charge the same regulated tuition fee (the 6th SFRC capped fee applies to all seats including management quota). Watch out for over-quotation by college agents.

Yes, through two routes. (1) Vacant-seat round: per Important Instruction #37, GGSIPU runs JEE Main counselling first; whatever B.Tech seats remain unfilled are then offered on CUET merit through additional rounds. (2) Management Quota: per Important Instruction #21 + Chapter 12, every unaided affiliated B.Tech college (MAIT/MSIT/BPIT/GTBIT/BVP/ADGITM/Echelon etc.) reserves 10% seats as management quota where a valid CUET score is one of the accepted qualifiers. The candidate must still meet the Class 12 PCM 55% eligibility.
Per Chapter 2, Programme Code 131 of the 2026-27 brochure, attempt: Section II β Physics (Code 322), Section II β Mathematics / Applied Mathematics (Code 319), and Section II β Chemistry (Code 306) or Computer Science / Informatics Practices (Code 308) for CSE/IT/AI majors. Add Section IA β English (Code 101) as the language paper. Final paper-mapping is notified by GGSIPU before counselling per Section 1.2 of the brochure.
No. Per Chapter 2, Programme Code 131: "All applicants are required to appear in Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main Paper 1 Conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). The University shall not conduct its own CET for admissions, but shall be utilizing the merit of JEE Main Paper 1 for its admissions." CUET (UG) is the secondary admission pathway used only to fill seats remaining vacant after JEE Main counselling.
Pass in Class 12 of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM), provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately. The candidate must additionally have passed English as a subject (core/elective/functional). Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) get a 5% relaxation to 50%. Marks are not rounded off (Instruction #28). Blind, deaf or dumb candidates are not eligible for B.Tech per the Chapter 2 footnote.
Vacant-seat availability changes year to year, but Tier-2 and Tier-3 affiliated colleges historically have more seats remaining after the JEE Main rounds. Watch for openings at BVP Paschim Vihar, DIST, Echelon Faridabad, JEMTEC Greater Noida, GTBIT specialisations beyond CSE, and HMR IT&M. Top USS (USICT/USAR) and MAIT-tier seats usually fill in JEE Main rounds, so plan with realistic college-rank targets.
No. The fee is identical regardless of admission route. Per Chapter 14, USS B.Tech fee 2026-27 is Rs. 2,04,900 in Year 1 (tuition Rs. 1,69,400 + Rs. 35,500 university/exam/infra/alumni charges). Affiliated colleges charge Rs. 1,41,750-1,55,700 per year tuition per the 6th SFRC notification dated 14.07.2025. Management quota seats at the same colleges follow the same regulated fee β be cautious of any agent quoting higher.
