IPU B.Com (Hons) Admission Through CUET (UG)

Last Updated:

How CUET Works for IPU B.Com (Hons) 2026-27

Per Section 1.1 ("At a Glance") of the GGSIPU UG Admission Brochure 2026-27, B.Com Honours admission at IP University (Programme Code 146) is structured as a two-tier merit list:

  1. First preference: GGSIPU CET 2026 conducted by the University.
  2. Second pathway: CUET (UG) 2026 # — used to fill vacant seats remaining after IPU CET counselling rounds (Important Instruction #37).

A B.Com aspirant who only has a CUET score (and not IPU CET) is still admissible — through the CUET vacant-seat round and through the management quota route at IPU's affiliated B.Com colleges.

Eligibility for B.Com (Hons) via CUET (Programme Code 146)

Per Chapter 2 of the brochure:

  • 50% in aggregate in 10+2 / Senior School Certificate Examination of CBSE as minimum marks for admission to B.Com, with pass in five subjects (one language and four elective subjects); or an examination recognized as equivalent to that.
  • Other accepted qualifications (per Chapter 2):
    • Pre-University Examination (Two years after ten years of schooling) of an Indian school / college.
    • Intermediate Examination of an Indian University / Board (Pass in five written subjects).
    • Indian School Certificate Examination (12 years) conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi (Pass in five written subjects).
    • Examination of a foreign University / Board recognized as equivalent to 10+2 CBSE / Indian University.
  • Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) get the standard 5% relaxation per university policy.
  • Marks are not rounded off — 49.99% will not become 50% (Important Instruction #28).

CUET (UG) Subject Papers Required for IPU B.Com (Hons)

Per Chapter 2, Programme Code 146 (Domain Specific Subjects column), candidates appearing in CUET (UG) for IPU B.Com Honours should attempt at least one of the following:

  • Section IA — English (Code 101)
  • Section II — Accountancy / Book Keeping (Code 301)
  • Section III — General Aptitude Test (Code 501)

The strongest combination is all three (English + Accountancy + General Aptitude). Commerce-stream students should definitely attempt Accountancy. Non-Commerce stream students who cleared 5 subjects in Class 12 (one language + 4 electives) can rely on English + General Aptitude Test.

Per Section 1.2 of the brochure: paper-mapping shown above is from CUET 2025; final CUET 2026 paper structure will be notified by GGSIPU before counselling.

IPU CET Subject Pattern (For Reference)

The IPU CET 2026 paper for B.Com Honours covers (per Chapter 2):

  • General English — 25%
  • Logical Reasoning — 25%
  • Data Interpretation — 35%
  • General Awareness — 15%

The CUET (UG) papers above (Accountancy, English, General Aptitude) cover overlapping ground — preparing for IPU CET strengthens your CUET attempt and vice versa.
